Here we go, again
Well, here we are. A few days on from all of the fun of the fair. A bunch of self-appointed leaders have failed to even carry us forward to a conference where we can determine our own party. This is grim, surely?
Not at all. There has been a flourishing of the grassroots in Your Party and as a result weâre taking advantage of that. Weâre not messing around, itâs simple. Weâve been kept in the dark when itâs come to decisions within Your Party and it all seems a little familiar. A little too Labour-familiar, and weâre frankly not interested in living in the past.
The present is too dangerous for us to be messing around with egos clashing. I am a part of the Stockport Socialists For Your Party, and weâve already made a motion thanks to our comrade Stephen who has proposed a way out of this mess, so thatâs why this has come to exist. We thoroughly recommend you read it, as soon as possible:
A Way Forward for Your Party
An emergency motion drafted from the 18/09/2025 statement of Stockport Socialists For Your Party
This meeting of Your Party supporters notes:
- On the morning of the 18th of September 2025, Zarah Sultana and an email sent to the Your Party distribution list publicly announced the ability to become a member of Your Party, with the ability to set up a monthly or yearly subscription via Direct Debit.
- This was followed with a response by Jeremy Corbyn that stated that âan unauthorised email was sent to all yourparty.uk supportersâ and that âlegal advice is being takenâ
- Zarah Sultana then responded with a statement claiming she has been âsidelined by the MPs named in todayâs statement and effectively frozen out of the party accountsâ.
- Along with this she characterised a section of those coordinating Your Party in the pre-conference period as a âsexist boyâs clubâ, who have âtreated her appallinglyâ and âexcludedâ her. The statement also claimed that the aforementioned âsexist boyâs clubâ has ârefused to allow any other women with voting rights on the Working Groupâ
- Sultana called in the same statement for âJeremy to meet with me and and agree to make public all agreed structures, processes and decision making protocols.â
- In a further statement, Your Party announced that âfollowing this morningâs unauthorised email to yourparty.uk supporters, the data controller has reported the matter to the Information Commissionerâs Office.â
- The same statement stated that Zarah âhas not been excluded from any discussionsâ.
This meeting believes:
- The creation of a mass, democratic and socialist party is the essential task of all socialists.
- The current breakdown in relations between different sections of pre-conference leadership of Your Party threatens the very existence of the new party, and helps no one.
- That the process of creating Your Party has up to this point lacked transparency and democratic accountability.
- That this lack of transparency and democratic accountability from all involved in the pre-conference leadership has to a large extent caused the current breakdown in relations.
- That open political disagreement is a normal, healthy part of any democratic political party.
- Rank and file democracy, not in supporting either faction of the group who have organised this party behind closed doors.
- Nonetheless, the publicising of âall agreed structures, processes and decision making protocolsâ would represent a major step forward for Your Party.
This meeting therefore urges the national leadership of Your Party to:
- Have Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn publicly meet to discuss their perspectives for the new party in front of an audience who are free to ask questions.
- Publish all agreed structures, processes and decision making protocols.
- Drop all proposed legal action, and request a withdrawal of the complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.
- Form and then connect together local branches on a democratic basis with data for those who signed up to Your Party handed over.
- Form a transparent, inclusive and democratic process for writing conference documents and making conference arrangements.
- Plan for a delegate conference to found the party, pass policy documents and constitution, and elect an accountable and instantly recallable leadership.
And urges all those who are active around Your Party to:
-
Build a national network of Your Party local groups, Your Party caucuses/factions and groups unaffiliated but organising within Your Party, to fight for a new mass socialist party, fighting first for:
- The creation of a membership structure
- The creation of official branches
-
To do this irrespective of the outcome of the current breakdown in relations at the top of Your Party.
